Why You Should NEVER Give Up on Pay Per Click
There are many out on the Internet that say once you have XX number of leads coming in to your website or blog from organic results that is when you should stop doing your pay per click. It is a hard road to the top of the Internet search results whether you are doing pay per click or you are targeting organic results. I thought I would write this post showing what others say and then the reason you shouldn’t listen to their advice. They give some reasons such as the following:
- Longevity – Ads only appear when you pay but organic results stay.
- Counter Point: Ads only stay when you pay but results will also only stay as long as
the search engine formula remains the same. Ask those who have been through a few search engine changes about this. The search engine can change its formula and a phrase that you used to be #1 on could make you number 30!
- Counter Point: Ads only stay when you pay but results will also only stay as long as
- More people click on organic – true more people do click on organic results than on paid results.
- Counter Point: What is not said by many who don’t like pay per click is that studies have shown that users are 85% more likely to click an organic result when they see a matching paid ad. You can literally corner the market by placing paid ads.
- Cost – one author even wrote that the minimum budget is in the $100’s per month. By the way SEO is not free. You have to either take your valuable time to do it or you have to pay someone.
- Counter Point: You define your budget. Do you want to spend $1 a day or do you want to spend $20 a day. It is all in your hands and not someone else. I never recommend outsourcing your marketing to another company unless you trust them with your business.
- Lack of Skill - They said paid advertising says to the consumer you aren’t skilled on the Internet.
- Counter point: Last time I checked real estate professionals are paid to guide clients through real estate transactions. They are not paid for SEO work, building websites, or for that matter taking out magazine ads. In fact with this argument anyone who ever took out a paid ad isn’t apparently a quality real estate professional.
- Lead Quality – There are those that say the lead quality from paid results is of lower quality than from organic results.
- Counter Point: There is no statistical proof in this statement whatsoever. The best way to judge quality of leads is to measure how many close!
Paid advertising or real estate pay per click is one of the greatest opportunities to generate instant results on your website or blog. Those that say you shouldn’t do it generally do so because they lack the skill necessary to take their own paid ads. Doing well with Google Adwords and other pay per click systems like MSN and Yahoo take skill to do well and even if they didn’t take skill the consumer is after the most relevant information they can find and if you deliver that with a paid real estate pay per click ad then I am all for it. I wouldn’t ever recommend to anyone to just do pay per click or just do SEO and I would be wary of those who advise you only to do it there way!
