Writing powerful content to dominate the search engines
I have always found it amazing that many real estate professionals say “I want to have a great website, but I just don’t know what to write.” Really? I ask that same person about their area though and they just can’t shut up. They tell me everything from the best streets to live on, the types of homes, and what sq footages are most common but their website says nothing about it! I always say, just write what you just told me and you will have a great website. It really can be that easy, but most people over complicate the process of writing new pages for their website which stops them from ever starting.
If you won’t take my word for the importance of content on your website, here is an excerpt from John Alexander’s FREE SEO Tip of the Day.
“Did you know that if you write your content so that it naturally
“reads very well,” you will naturally gain some bonus for having
created quality content.By this I mean content…that reads well to a human being.
Use moderation in everything you do. One of the things you need to understand is that “theme based” search engines like Google, are actually using a measure of artificial intelligence (AI) to measure how well your article “reads” based on the context of your page and all of the overall data that a search engine has gathered concerning a specific topic.”
You don’t have to understand the artificial intelligence (AI) behind Google to write quality content, you just have to write information that is useful to your visitors and actually gives them what they are looking for. Just as news papers do you want to write at a 5th grade level if possible. Using fancy words may sound nice, but it doesn’t provide any real benefit to your audience. So to help you write that quality, easy to read content here are 3 quick tips to take the stress out of writing and get you into the top of the search engines.
- Write for people not search engines – Don’t stress out over keywords. As a by product of just writing about your area you will hit some of the most popular words that describe your city.
- You aren’t writing a novel – Your pages don’t have to be long to be successful. Keeping your pages to 350-450 words is just fine. Some of our most successful pages on our websites are under 400 words so they don’t have to be long to generate leads for you month in and month out.
- Write about your expertise – There is no need for extensive research. Just write what you know about your area because chances are most people starting their search on the internet know less than you; that is why they are looking online!
Keeping the rules simple for creating your content will make it enjoyable so you continue to do it. Remember Google wants to see you keep your content fresh so keep adding pages on a regular basis and watch yourself quickly rise in the rankings.
