Why You Can’t Afford not to Advertise on Google
There are people out there who say that you should abandon real estate pay per click advertising efforts and that you should only focus your efforts on SEO (Search Engine Optimization). In fact if you listened to the interview that was done with Ryan Lash of www.yMarketing.com you heard how he spoke about SEM (Search Engine Marketing) and how under that umbrella he had two tasks that real estate professionals should take time to learn and work on and those two were as follows:
- SEO - He mentioned how it was important to work on having the search engines find you.
- Pay Per Click - That’s right an SEO Expert (trust me he is just go to his companies site at www.ymarketing.com or his at http://www.ryanlash.com/). He was very clear on the fact that pay per click is a solid strategy that should be pursued in addition to SEO efforts and recommends it as part of SEM to his clients.
So why do real estate professionals avoid learning and implementing pay per click strategies? I believe it is out of fear. Just because you are afraid though doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try something and learn how to do it effectively. Let’s discuss why you can’t afford not to advertise on Google (you can also choose Yahoo or MSN as well).
- You can be on Google in as little as 30 minutes. That’s right as fast as you can get your credit card out you can be on Google advertising away. No SEO person can guarantee that a brand new website will be on Google in 30 minutes, trust me.
- You can control your message. Even the best SEO people can’t control how things appear. When you are taking our your paid ad you know what it is saying and where it is pointing.
- Others aren’t doing it. Let’s face it there is so much fear out there around pay per click that agents don’t want to do it. Many agents didn’t used to use classified ads yet I know 100’s of agents that made well over $100K a year every year using classified ads.
So you have to decide do you want to go where there is less competition and a little learning or ignore a great opportunity? The choice is yours. I will tell you that we have been advertising on Google since 2003 and it is profitable and rewarding.
