Is Cuil the Next Google?
Many have tried to tackle Google and many have failed. Some of the biggest names in the search engine industry have been losing ground to Google for years. We all know those names they are Yahoo, MSN, and AOL.
So what does Cuil do that the others don’t? Well it does display things a bit differently then Google, Yahoo, and MSN. It looks more magazine like it it’s display and includes pictures in almost every single result.
Is this search engine really going to beat Google? That can only be proven with time and what consumers think of the site as they search and the results that they deliver.
More information on Cuil can be found at their website of www.Cuil.com and at Ex-Google engineers debut ‘Cuil’ way to search which is an article by By Michael Liedtke on the new search engine and he outlines how the search engine is differentiating themselves from Google.

Apparently Cuil was not quite ready for launch during the first day or two - many medium long tail queries did not return results at all, and even general queries returned way fewer results than they should have considering Cuil’s claims of having indexed so many pages already. They did improve somewhat afterward, however, and seem to be picking up more results and increasing relevance as more people have been testing out the engine.
In the long run, I hope they get things together and perform well enough to compete with the major search engines and then maybe do some advertising. I would like to see more serious competitors to Google in order to hold their power in check and encourage more transparency overall.

Karlonia,
Launching software can be difficult for sure and it looks like the article on MSN must have generated quite a response along with the other media they had information out with on that day. I am glad that things got better after a few days.
Nothing spurs on things like a little competition and serious competition. I agree that having a competitor to Google can only help thing out.
