You can build it, we can help…with your website and blog that is
”You can build it, we can help™” is a slogan that was made famous by Home Depot. Home Depot sells many different brands of tools and they really don’t care which brand you purchase because they are committed to helping you with your home improvement goals regardless of the brand of tool you buy.
Home Depot’s angle of building their business around help and advice, rather than a product has some wisdom to it. When you come to think about it, why does a hammer in the hand of an experienced tradesman seem to create such wonderful things, yet, in the hands of a novice you end up with holes throughout your house? The difference is in the experience and in the training that one has received.
Building Your Online Presence
We are firm believers of the philosophy of helping you to build your online presence regardless of what software you have chosen.
You can buy a hammer (or software) from anyone, but if you don’t know how to use it, then it sure won’t do you much good.
Today, we see vendors of all sorts selling their products to the real estate professional. Some boast “training” and “online tech support”, but if they are only training you on how to use their product, what happens when you outgrow that product or they shut down?
Items to Consider
So, before you decide to plunk down some serious money for a blog or a real estate website (I know it’s crazy that just because you paid $2,000 for a blog doesn’t mean it’s going to start generating leads for you) here are some things you might want to consider:
- What level of support do I need? - Is it by phone, a forum, e-mail?
- What kind of training do I get? - Is it ongoing, or just a 1 time orientation?
- Am I committed to using it? - Spending money alone rarely solves the problem, so think about the time you can dedicate.
This market (and any market for that matter) dictates that you spend your money wisely. Investing in marketing and training is definitely a good thing as it can keep you moving forward, but make sure you know what you are paying for. Just because a tool costs big $$$ doesn’t mean it’s going to solve your problems over night.
