The Olympics and Your Website
It’s a beautiful occurrence that happens just every 4 years. The best of the best from around the world come together to find out truly who will be an Olympic Champion. The events are thrilling, often nail biting, and your emotions swing with every passing second as you root for champion in the hopes that they get the Gold.
No matter what sport you enjoy watching one of the great aspects about the Olympics is that of the stories of each athlete. The journey to the Olympics is not one that is easy and takes the support of friends, family and the sacrifice of the athlete in pursuit of their dreams. In fact the story is what makes that victory (or in some cases the defeat) even more heartfelt.
Your Story
So what is your story? As you write each post on your blog and each page on your website, realize that you are crafting a story. It may not be as dramatic as Lopez Lomong’s story of going from a refugee in Sudan to competing for USA and walking the flag in for the opening ceremonies, but you have a story none the less. Your customers are going to choose you for more than just how many sales you had last year. They want to see a bit about who you are from your website.
How do I tell the story?
Telling your story is easier than you think. In fact for most real estate agent it’s second nature, but they only do it when they are speaking to someone. As soon as they sit down to write it, they often get writers block. If this happens never fear, you can always record the words and have them transcribed, but first, let’s look at how we tell our story.
Neighborhood Pages
As you write about the neighborhoods in which you operate, provide your unique perspective. Try to be vivid with your descriptions as if you were speaking with someone on the phone. This will ensure that you create a wonderful picture for someone to read about (of course you still want pictures). This works particular well when you keep the focus of the page to a small neighborhood so you can brings things to life like popular streets.
Blog Posts
Since your blog is meant to be updated a bit more than your real estate website you get the chance to share many different stories. You can share personal aspects (ok, maybe not too personal) like Jay Thompson of Phoenix Real Estate Guy. His posts give you an insight into who he is and he even shared about how his son got in a car accident and was thankfully ok. Posts like that show that you are a real person, not just a robot selling real estate machine.
Insights into who you are will attract people with the same values which will make it more fun for all parties involved. Share a little and watch who you attract to your blog!
Getting Gold
While most of us will never compete in front of the world for the Gold, we can reach for gold each and every time we craft our stories. Gold may be that you helped a family who had been ignored by other real estate professionals online!
Set your sights high like the Olympic Athletes, share your stories, and know that you will have fans all over the Internet cheering you on.
