Who cares if you were “Top Producer” get over it and start selling today
That’s right I don’t care if you were a Top Producer and I don’t care what you sold last year. The reason is you can’t use that to sell homes this year. Just because something worked last year doesn’t mean it is going to work this year. By the way I don’t even know what a Top Producer is anyway so get over what this means and just start getting back to business.
Why am I saying this? Well my brother and I have been doing a few training seminars on “12 ways to get 3 deals in the next 45 days” and here is what we keep hearing:
- I used to be a “Top Producer” and now I am not
- I don’t want to change, I want to do what I did last year
- Last year was fine but this year isn’t turning out that way
- I don’t have any money to spend on something to get me business
- I don’t know how I am going to change what is happening
Listen up, it is February and if you already believe that this year is going to be bad for you it most certainly will be. It is called a self fulfilling prophesy. You know if you believe you are going to do bad you magically do bad because you set that as your goal.
You can change if you want to
So how do you change? Well first get the mindset right and stop reading the news unless you can deal with the truth. I realize that this may sound a bit over the top but seriously get over whatever is happening. My brother and I started our real estate company in a 1 car garage in the City of Carson with absolutely no savings, no capital, no training and with car payments and mortgages do every month. What we did was decide that we had two choices:
- Generate leads, book appointments & close business and make sure that we were successful producing agents
- Whine about the fact we worked in a 1 car garage, had no training, and use that as an excuse to fail and go back to jobs that we didn’t want to be at.
So we made choice number #1 a priority and have ever since and continue to do so. In any market there is opportunity just choose which side you were going to be on.
If you want this year to be different than last year (if last year was bad) or if you just want to make sure you have a cranking year this year and things are doing your way right now then I have a couple of tips for you:
- Learn something new or implement a new system but actually finish the system and implement to the extreme. An example: You can use Craigslist to crank out 100 leads a month every month and close business from it but you have to actually do the work. Check out what people are doing at www.CraigslistMarketingMastery.com
- Cut everything that isn’t producing you a return on the money you spend. An example: last year my brother and I removed everyone from our newsletter who hadn’t sent a referral or who hadn’t returned calls that we had made. We saved 100’s of dollars each and every month.
- Attend a training event or seminar and take action with what you have learned. An example: My brother and I have been doing a training event “12 Ways to Get 3 Deals in 45 Days” and we cover plenty of items that agents can take to improve their business immediately but it requires work and won’t work if you just put it on the book shelf.
So whether you choose to be successful or brush up your resume to go back to a job you don’t want to be at make sure that you do it with all the energy you have because there is no bailout coming to a real estate office near you.

I really liked this article, and was interested in learning more about you to refer to my students and RE clients, but when I saw that you were recommending Todd Bates, I had to unsubscribe. I’ve invested in his product and was completely disappointed and additionally, he charged 200 too much to my credit card, called it a mistake, and yet failed to ever ever get back.
Not my kind of person.

Tamara
I personally have had tremendous success with Todd Bate’s products and implementing them into my real estate business and have never been overcharged by him.
If you had to unsubscribe because of one post and one person that we work with then this isn’t the blog for you. We like to bring up different opinions and different ways to do business so if that bothered you I wish you the best of luck.

Though I don’t know Todd personally you’re the first person I’ve heard say anything negative about him. What does Joey have anything to do with a transaction you had with another coach anyway? Seems a little short sighted, however that seems to run thick in the real estate world. I’d be a sponge and soak up anything and everything I can. Things are moving so fast these days that when I run across people like the twins I can’t afford not to listen to them…no matter who they’re recommending. To be in the top 5% in Long Beach speaks volumes to me and they are both stand up guys. One thing has nothing to do with the other and I’m sure there is another side to the story….there always is. I’ve had Realtors crawfish me on deals or sign up for coaching and then come back the next day and say oh I changed my mind after chewing into my time for over an hour. Now I have to keep my initial consultations down to 30 mins top cause everyone in the industry wants something for free and yet they make thousands on sales using the techniques that all of us have spent 1000’s of hours researching, learning, developing and then dumbing down to a format that industry professionals can understand. It just amazes me the leaches in our industry. Not saying you’re one, just short sighted. The twins give away so much information on here and http://www.OnlineRealEstateSuccess.com it’s sick…but you go ahead and unsubscribe. I’m sure they’ll be happy you did as to not waste their time in the future. Do you teach this short sightedness to your students?

Christian, thanks for the kind words man, we have always enjoyed sharing and will continue to do so
Tamara, I am sure there are two sides of the story for sure, and what I can’t understand is why you would let 1 instance in the past prevent you from learning more now. All of our posts concentrate on learning, applying, and truly pushing the limits so real estate professionals can get more out of their online marketing.
If you are filtering information likes ours away from your students then you are only punishing them from achieving the highest levels of success.

After 20 years of selling real estate and marketing coaching with over 15,000 individual agents… I have come to know a couple of things. #1 - Everyone is not going to like you, your products, your approach, etc. and #2 - 99% of the agents that complain are either dead broke and/or are not willing to work hard. They would rather complain and whine about me, the market, their broker, their company or something else. In fact, I honestly never get complaints from agents who actually do something - because they want to hear the bottom line truth about how to make money in this market. I appreciate the feedback I get from these type of forums and I wish even the camplainers the best of luck in their own approach.
