If You Can’t Invest In Yourself Why Should Anyone Else?
Invest in yourself. If you aren’t willing to spend money on yourself, your career, and accomplishing your goals no one will. I am not joking if you can’t spend money on yourself no one will.
I was on the phone with several agents yesterday discussing their business and how things were going. Conversations ranged all over the board but let’s cover a few of gems that I heard yesterday. I was speaking with agents all across the United States and in every market so this is a pretty good cross section of what is going on.
- “Business is just amazing, we are cranking on REO’s but we could use more”
- “I am not sure what I am going to do business has been really slow but I “think” things are turning around”
- “Things are awful I am only working referrals and not many people in my sphere want to buy anything”
You get the idea?
Many people just wanted to complain, and I was willing to listen. By the way all of these people had contact me. They had requested information and a call to check in with them to see how their business was going and what was going on.
I discovered something funny along the way
Here comes the funny part of the conversation. Since every single one of them wanted to do more business I offered them different products that we have available (that is how we make money and since they called me and I offered suggestions first they were happy to listen). The funny part of not a single one of them wanted to invest in themselves even when they were offered a product that was completely guaranteed. For reference the most expensive product they were offered was $199.
The funny part was it wasn’t the money for these individuals. They actually had no issue with:
- The quality of the product that was offered
- What they would be able to learn with the product
- That they would be able to do more business with the product then without it
These individuals didn’t want to change and they didn’t want to take the time to learn something new. Are you kidding me? If your business is not going the way you want you have time. If you need to do more and are doing business right now you have $$$$. I am not talking about products that cost $5000 or $6,000 I am talking about products that cost a few hundred dollars that you can use to generate 1-2 closed sales every month.
Here is the big IF.
The products and systems will only work IF you are willing to put the time and effort in to putting them into action.
To be honest I just hope that these individuals just take action. On the other side of the coin I had a broker call and order systems for himself and his agents and we had nice woman buy, as a gift, a set of CD’s for her boyfriend because he had wanted them.
Don’t wait for someone to invest in you, take action, learn something new and put it in place in your business but do it NOW.

I hear from too many real estate people who do not treat their businesses like a business. they treat it like a job. they don’t want to invest and improve, they think deals should just flow their way because they have a real estate license. geesh!
