I chose that title because it describes the age of working smart and the freedom to generate income from anywhere in the world using technology. In the past it took lots of money to effectively market yourself. Mailers, ads, bus stop benches, phone booths (when was the last time you saw one of those?), commercials, etc… Today you can market yourself by accident and in most cases for free. The younger generations of today are all about sharing information for free. Look online and you can find almost any application for free.

Five years ago it was anyone and everyone doing real estate and almost anyone and everyone was successful at it. You can say the same thing about marketing today. It’s getting harder and harder for the coaches/consultants of the world to charge for their niche products anymore. People can jump online and find out pretty much anything they want and sites like this one are happy to give it away for free. Why? Because people like me are tired of paying out the nose to market ourselves and our businesses.

The bottom line is most of your grass roots efforts start with your own sphere of influence…that being the people you know and people that would do business with you or refer you out to a friend. In real estate Joe Stump and Brian Buffini pulled that line. The problem with a lot of coaching businesses is that they are often pushing their own products that have high monthly membership fees. And for what…to make you feel like you’re doing something about your business. So because you’re spending your money you must be investing in your business…right? I believe those days are numbered and “old school coaches” are on their last leg. They are having to hire people to keep up with the technology of today because it’s past them up. They haven’t reinvented themselves along the way and now there’s two whole generations that have reshaped our world or what was once their world. Guess what…they got caught like a lazy boy napping.

Gone is the day of having to spend $1000’s of dollars on a mailer. Gone is the day of front page ads in the newspapers or local magazines. You can be much more effective and increase your bottom line by purging those expenses and going where the water is warm. If each of you would spend 30 minutes a day working your social networks online I promise you more business would begin to flow in and your bottom line would automatically increase. You would enjoy what you do again and actually become more knowledgeable about your business because you would have to in order to compete.

Sites like Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Plaxo, Blogger, Wordpress, etc… allow you to share your expertise for free with millions of people each and everyday. Most importantly if you set them up properly you can touch everyone in a matter of minutes by pressing the “enter” key on your computer.

So you’re asking “Christian…how do you make money if all you’re doing is coaching people on how to run their marketing for next to nothing each month?” Where’s the income potential in that? True I get paid well for my one on one coaching sessions however, my clients are happy to pay for me to come in and jump start them on what would probably take them 90 days to learn and figure out. How many sales will you miss in 90 days if you’re busy keeping your head glued to your computer trying to learn everything on your own? I’ll answer that for you….A TON! So how do I live by my own coined philosophy “Don’t be a cog in the wheel?” Simple….and since I’m always transparent I’ll share a valuable piece of information with you.

I use products I believe in and though most of them are FREE some of them aren’t. And a few of those have affiliate programs. Take for instance all of the Xiosoft products. I’ve been using Instant Audio for years now. They charge $30 per month for the use of their service. See all the recorders on this site? They’re all through Instant Audio. The beautiful thing is that I believe audio keeps people on my site and switches that credibility switch on much faster than just reading a bunch of text. Why do I believe that? Because I’ve seen the average time on my site jump from under one minute to over six minutes since using the product. That’s an eternity to be on a website. Here’s the cool part…whether my clients go through Instant Audio direct or through me they pay the same. If they go through my affiliate link I get 1/3 of the $30 they pay each month. Now multiply that across 100’s of clients and you can see where I’m coming from. It’s not MLM (which I hate). I get paid just for referring them through my site…it’s a sales commission in effect. These affiliate programs are all over the Internet people, it’s how people market their products. The coaches of old built products and pushed them on their clients. Today the new generations find products that we use and believe in and teach them to our clients. Some have affiliate programs and others don’t. I use what works and I teach it to my peeps! It’s that simple.

How about domain names? I used to tell people to go to GoDaddy and buy their domains for $9.99 a year. Now I own Address Builders and tell people to go there for the same price. The beautiful thing is GoDaddy runs the whole site, I just own it. Did you know that the top reseller for GoDaddy a year ago was bringing in over $50K a month? You get the same product and service at Address Builders the only difference is I get a cut on every product for promoting it + I own it! There are so many others out there. My point is no matter what you’re passionate about there are other people that are passionate about the same thing. Do some research on a Saturday morning and start building your online business this month. Who knows…you might be able to leave corporate America or that serving job at nights sooner than you think! Share your knowledge for free and you’ll be amazed at the results you’ll get. Remember consistency creates credibility and perception is reality for most people. YOU CAN DO THE SAME and you can live your dream of happiness no matter where you are in the world.
